Book Review, and I'm speechless.

The other day I read someone's blog ( I swear it was Peggy Eddelman) that mentioned how hard it was to start writing after you haven't been writing for awhile. Like you have to start over. I think she was referring to blogging, if I recall, and I'm feeling that way now.

I believe I did this last year after A-Z. I quit blogging for a while. It's not that it's even that hard, I'm just done. It also had to do with getting requests for materiel at a conference (YAY!!!) and the grueling work that has been. That being said, here I am.

I do manage, however, no matter how busy I am, to read. Reading is my drug, and I'm completely addicted with no desire to cure myself.

I JUST finished The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.

~Insert delightful squealing!!!!!!!~

It must be known that I went into this completely biased. I have adored Laini through the Internets for awhile. I have a little bit of a writerly crush on her, if you will. It would have had to suck balls for me to have been annoyed with this book. The beauty? It SO did not sucks balls. (That was horribly graphic and disgusting, but I won't apologize.)

This book was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not a reader of fantasy, low or high, but I'll be darned if i couldn't have read this book all day, every day. Good gracious. (please note that I don't declare myself above reading any genre, I can and have, loved and appreciated them all...there are just some I'm naturally drawn too more frequently than others.)

Back to the book. Her words are so delicious I could eat them with a spoon. There were several sentences I reread several times, just to sit in awe of their beauty. I would LOVE to hear this read aloud. The plot was fresh and imaginative, the characters vivid, and the world was FANTASTIC. I now have Prague and Morocco on my WTGT (want to go to) list. It is definitely one of those books that makes me ACHE for a sequel.

I was so happy to finally get to this book, and now I'm sad that it's over. But what a wonderful feeling that is to have about a book. I love it. Has anyone read her Dreamdark books? I'm thinking about reading those to my boys. I've heard they are fantastic.

So...I'm back from the conference.

And it was AMAZING! Lots of good info, snacks and networking.

Best of all, you ask? I pitched. Three times. I was very proud of myself! :)

The result? Well, lets say I need to polish up this manuscript immediately! Yay!! Thanks for all of the encouragement from everyone! I'm going to be super busy for a little bit!
